New year, new volunteer opportunities for parents

UCC’s vibrant parent community is one of the many special things about the college. And no matter how much or how little time you have, the Parents’ Organization can find a volunteer opportunity for you. The PO needs parents to assist with on campus events like Association Day (October 14), Festive Marketplace (December 8) or smaller events and groups throughout the year. If you’re interested in getting involved, click volunteer form.

The Used Blues Shop (TUBS)

The Used Blues Shop (TUBS) is hosting its annual back-to-school sale right after Labour Day.

When: Tuesday, September 5th 2-4 p.m.
Wednesday, September 6th 8-9:30 a.m.

Where: basement hallway near the Lower Dining Hall

The sale will feature gently used uniforms and spirit wear. All purchases will be charged to a student’s account by using their student number. Parents are asked to sign-in at reception before shopping. And please bring a shopping bag.

Donations are welcome.

REGISTER | Upper School Comedy Night

The Parents' Organization’s Arts Booster Club Comedy Night has returned by popular demand! Professional stand-up comedians are performing at UCC on Tuesday, April 16 for one night only. Upper School students and their accompanying trusted adults will enjoy light food and beverages in the Student Centre before a live comedy show in the David Chu Theatre. Funny man Greg Eckler ’87, long time writer for the Rick Mercer Report, will emcee this evening of food and levity.

Date: Tuesday, April 16

Time: 6:30–8:30 p.m.

Venues: UCC Student Centre and the David Chu Theatre

Please save the date for an exciting new parent/student event celebrating the Year 11s as they all StepUP into the role of school leaders and honouring the Year 12s as they pass the torch to the incoming cohort. It will be an excellent opportunity for making connections, putting names to faces and meeting friends’ families.

Parents can enjoy student-led tours and join their sons on a school-wide scavenger hunt, followed by a casual dinner and live music in the Upper Dining Hall. Guest speaker will be Martin Kon ’89, former YouTube CFO and current President and COO of Cohere, who will discuss being a leader, stepping up after graduation, and what skills are most in demand with the advent of AI. This is one evening you won’t want to miss!
